Sawubona!

Okay, all! This is the blog I mentioned to many of you in-person. This is how I plan to chronicle my experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Swaziland. We'll see how well it works. I've never blogged before, so I really don't know the 'do's and dont's' and all that stuff. Frankly, however, this blog is more for my benefit than anything else. I find it therapeutic and helpful to focus my rambling thoughts into somewhat coherent sentences. It helps me put things in perspective, ya know? So, if you want to follow me, then bookmark my blog. I'll be linking updates to Facebook, so you can follow along that way if we're FB friends. I don't plan on blogging much until after graduation. I also don't know what the internet access situation will be like in Swaziland, so I can't promise to update the blog periodically. We'll see, I suppose.

Oh, and the title is a greeting in Siswati (the native language of Swaziland). I began listening to language modules that the Peace Corps gave me access to when I accepted my Invitation and I've been trying to incorporate random Siswati into my personal lexicon.

...and I just realized that it was exactly one year ago today that I initiated my Peace Corps application. Wow. I didn't realize it has been that long. The application process sometimes seemed frustrating and quixotic, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I'm absolutely certain that It'll all be worth it.
